TRANSPLANT  OVERVIEW

• Organs may include: Kidneys, Heart, Lungs, Liver, Pancreas and Intestines.**

• Tissues may include: Corneas, Middle Ear, Skin, Heart Valves, Bone, Veins, Cartilage, Tendons, and Ligaments.**

• Living donations may include: Blood and Platelets (every 2 months), one Kidney, a lobe of a Lung or a Liver, part of the  Pancreas or Intestines, extra Skin or Bone left from surgery, Amnion after childbirth, plus Stem Cells.
• Living Donation Requirements: To be between 18 & 60 years of age, physically fit, and never have had :high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, kidney or heart disease.**

                About 34,000 transplants are done each year but approximately 20 deaths per day are a result of low                  donor registrations.
